9th Wonder & Buckshot - Chemistry

This is a solid album; thoroughly retro and, admittedly, somewhat boring in today's wildly eclectic hip-hop environment, but it still has its place. Buckshot is on point throughout, hungry, though not quite at his Black Moon prime. He's a working class rapper, a street fighter, quick to jab and quick to call the bluff of any would-be tough guys. 9th Wonder compliments Buck with his stoic, no-bullshit beats, and true to the title of the album, they work well together. There's a smoothness to these songs; Buckshot's voice is mellow, and the edges of the beats are soft in comparison to those of say, DJ Premier. This is a good, low-key album to listen to with the homies, blunts and beers mandatory.
